WP-Thumbnail is a simple and neat Wordpress Plugin that not only allows you to use a short-code to generate dynamic screenshot of webpages in your posts but also takes a realtime snapshot of the served webpage and saves a link to it on the page itself that too without burdening the servers. This helps in optimizing search results on Google by adding a thumbnail to the left of the search result snippet and makes shared posts more attractive, with a relevant thumbnails, on Social Sites like Facebook.
Well now you know what it does then the question is - How it does it? It is simple and the best part is you don't have to tell it what to do, filling those long forms, just plug-it-in and you are good to go. It knows what it has to do. You just have to tell it when to do. Down below are some screenshots, lets have a loook at them -
The First slide shows the admin page for the plugin a link to which is added on the 'Installed Plugin' page and the main sidebar. On the left pane of the page it shown how to use the shortcode. On the right pane you get to have some important links like - The Plugin Home Page, The Author's website, Subscribtion Link and Forums for the Plugin.
The Second slide shows an example of the shortcode used on my blog to generate the dynamic screenshot of my homepage. The image shows up almost immediately and even if it doesn't the headache is not yours it will automatically refresh the page.
The Third slide shows the raw format of the previous post, in second slide. Simple and easy to understand the shortcode has 5 attributes and the defaults of every boolean is true. One important thing to note is - you must add the http or https protocols to the url.
Besides the features you get to see and use, there are other features too in this plugin that people usually forget and don't really think them to be features. But they play an integral part in running the plugin, displaying the right text for you and codes for the bots.
Down below are some of the key features that you may never again have to bother about but still it is good to know the these featuers as these may help when you try to make your own. Its not only what is outside a MAC the things you can see, the inside also matters.
WP-Thumbnail is one of the best integrated plugins with Wordpress. There are simple and easy to locate directories for the system. It stays in-tact in one folder only and doesn't loads your server by saving the generated images.
It adds-up simple and short lines of codes that is not only easy for bots to recognize but also doesn't increase the time it takes to download your site. So, it increases the efficiency without compromising with speed.
The plugin is and will be constantly tested and evaluted by the author and other developers. There is a special dedicated discussion space for it wherein it is made sure that the users are always satisfied.
It is my first ever Wordpress Plugin and I believe that I have put my best to get this thing together. The users from now will not have a problem reviewing sites, sharing theirs posts and having organised search results on engines like Google. The best optimization plugin when it comes to images.
